Gengrat Booru, of the Salvation
Army in England, in-his report for
1882, says that in that year 609 of
his soldiers, including 274 women,
were knocked down, kicked or brutally assaulted otherwise, and that
fifty-six buildings in which they

windows. These attacks are denounced by the Pall Mall Gazette as a
