there being.a godd ledge there. Work
will be cotimenced on it,and a crush<

The locators are of the Opinion that
' it is the extension of the California
mine, At all events, the rock looks
well enough to be an extension of

Work Commenced.
Yesterday work was commenced
at Colfax on the Narrow Gunge Railroad from that place to Nevada City,
andthe building of the road may
now be considered fairly begun. A
force of four hundred men are employed, and the number will be increased as fast as they can be-used to
advantage. A large number of horses
and carts have bean brought ‘into requisition. Parties who went, plas to

"The mines owned by the Murehie’s
are all being worked to their tullest
capacity and are looking first-rate.
Rieh rock is being taken out of. the
two quartz ledges, and the gravel in
the hydraulic claim prospects splendidly. Hoisting works have not yet
been erected at the Lone Star, but.
it will be done.some time-soon,
New Discovery.
J. A. Russ has discovered, located,
and had his claim for fifteen hundred feet on a ledge, known as the
““Evergreen,’’ recorded in the Recorder’s office. The ledge is situated

look well.

The efoupy cough—so. alarming to
the ear and so dangerous to life—to
which children are subjeet, inay be
immediately relieved by administering a dose of Hale’s Heney cf Horehound and Tar. When given to a
child who seems to be choking under the efiects—of a° spasmodic and
husky cough, the effect is electrical,
as many a mother will testify. In
fact there is no affection of the
the throat or the lungs, short of the
actual disorganization of the tissues
and membranes which it will: ziet
