‘Work ‘SUSPENDED. —In contequetice of
the high water in the Yuba river, mining
operations in the rich claims at Rocky Bar,
a short-distance above Washington, have
been suspended. The claims are located
upon.an-old chatinel of the river which i is
only a short-distance above the present bed-}
of the stream.:. When the water rises toa
suffivient height, the drifts, cuts and tunnels
are filled up and the miners are compelled to
suspend work. The Rocky Bar claims yield
very large amour.ts yearly. :

SPIRITUALISM.—Considerable ‘Yaterest
ent, in regard to Spiritualism, and variow
attempts have been made-to call the spirits
from ‘the vasty deep,” or some other place.
A. party of gentleman had sittings for three .

they raised was a bottle of “cocktails.”—

JUSTICES’ Courrs.—The Crimioal Docket in the Justices’ Courts of this city has
been undsually small for severaldays, The
entire business has net extended beyond
one or two cases of drunk and Cheaedecty
THe Roaps.—The roads are in sucha
terrible condition, that the transportation
of freight is almost iunpoesible. Some of our
merchants have had goods for six daye-out,
on the road from Marysville.
-Tue County.—There are only two crim”
inal cases to be tried in the County Court
daring the present term. The defendants .
in both cases are Loyds. One is. charged
with grand larceny and the other with an
attempted outrage upon a child.
