Valley National. proposed—-to do the advertising at $175 per square for the first insertion, and 75 ets. for each subsequent insertion, and made --no bid for other printing. : _____ ‘The TRaNscrirt proposed to do the _printing for $224. The Gazette bid ~ «$74.99, and this being the lowest bid, the county printing tor one year, beginning March -1st, i868, was awarded. to that paper; the. Board instructing tlie District. Attorney to draw upa-contract—thie contractor to file a bond in ~ the sum of $1,000 to do the work. nae _ Boarp or Surervisors.—The Board of Supervisors authorised George H <Colby to collect tolls for one year, rates game as last-year, with the exception of 25 cents, which was fixed as rate for pack animals. ~ The petition asking that the road __.. from Nevada to Newtown he declared a county road was granted. _._ The petition asking for a bridge across Deer Creek at the Anthony House, laid over. County Hosrirat.—The following are the statistics of the County: Hospital for the quarter ending Feb. 2d, as reported by R. M.” Hunt, County Physician: Number of patients at last report, 29; number admitted, 14; discharged cured, 3; left, 4; died, 6; still. under treatment, 29. : THE Sunpay Law.—A petition has’ ___ been circulated in ‘this city and generally signed, against the repeal of the Sunday law. Many men who -do business, sign it not on the score of morality ‘ but because they desire rest and recreation one day in the week. INCREASE oF TAXEs.—A petition is -... being circulated in this city, asking the “Legislature to pass a law authorising _ the Board of Trustees to levy taxes _ not to exceed $1 00 on each $100 of taxable property. ‘The object is to get the city clear of debt incurred by the extraordinary expense of building and repairing bridges. THE WEBB SISTERS — OPENING Nignt.—J. W. Adams has received a dispatch from Mr. Corbyn, of Maguire’s Opera House, San Francisco, in which 3 it was stated that, owing to unforseen circumstances, the engagement of the Webb Sisters in this county, will be postponed, We are assured, however, that they will, after adding to their f support, commence an engagement of _ three nights in Grass Valley on the 20th, and will then play three nights here. “ A Larrie Saaxy.—The foot bridge connecting Broad and Pine streets, is “in rather a shaky condition.
