Death of Thomas Curley.

Will It Prove a First-Class Fraad ?
A Walla Walla (Washington Territory) dispatch,,, of . February, 9th,
says: The excitement about the
‘Coeur d’ Alene mines ig abating, The
most atrocions falsehoods are being
disseminated about’ their rickness,
when; in fact, old miners. believe
that ‘not $5,000 have been taken out
since the camp was struck. What
little has teen seen is of a scaly pnature, which ocours in spots. The
creek is very flat and deep. No
work has been done except on 8
high rim outside the main channel,
in which bedrock hag not been seen
yet. The claims are 201 acres each.
The old dodge of exhibiting nuggets
and rich quartz specimens"have been
going.on for some time, but. traders.
have ovly seen a féw samples bf gold
which are, exhibited by »interested
parties. The country may be rich,
but so far nothing has been found to
justify au excitement.

Stopped the Fun.
On account of the numerous accidents that were occurring, the Trustees ordered Marshal Baldridge ,bo
put a stop Wednesday night” “to
coasting on Broad street. The track
had become so narrow and glarry as
to render it extremely unsafe, no
matter how much care the coasters
exercised. The fun had been going
on six nights, and. there were from
two to four persons. hprt more or
less each night. ‘Fortunately no
very serious Injuries were received,
