The tax this year will be lower than, last

lars. The entire tax for county purposes
is only 62 cents on each hundred dollars.
The Board of Supervisors have made a close
calculation and believe that at the rate
levied for the ensuing year, the county expenses can be paid hee running the
county in debt. atte x

: oh the river bars, near Washington, has
been mostly suspended on account of high
~~ water, but all the companies. will resume
operations early in the Spring, and more
mining will: be done than for several
years. Last Falla large nuniber of locations were made for river mining and considerable prospecting was done. ‘These’
new claims will be thoroughly opened in
the Spring; and judging from the yield of
the bats of the Yuba last year, there is
good reason to hope for a Prosperous Bea

morning. A warm éun yesterday rapidly .
dissolved the snow, and by evening the
ground was bare in many places. At four
o’clock it-clouded up and commenced snowing with’a fair prospect fora long storm.
