Nearly every day miners’ cabins are robbed of provisions and clothing, and at night hen roosts are cleared by thieves. These thefts are undoubtedly committed, in most cases, by Chinamen, and they are seldom caught. If captured, it is not often that sufficient evidence can be procured to secure conviction. The chicken stealing is particularly annoying to those who are taking the trouble to raise fowls. In some instances the same place has been vis" ited two or three timés during one sf season, and the chickens stolen. The . officers are continually on the watch, but the rogues get away. They have camps outside of town, and generally . commit their thefts out of the regular beat of officers. o Dance. To-day is the extra day of Leap Year, and it will be danced out at Temperance Hall this evening. Mr. Millington gives the party, and the tickets are 75 cents. The best of music will be on hand. If.ever there wasa preparation to rank as a National Remedy, this wonderful specific has a fairclaim to the title. For a period of twenty years it has -literally been the Champion Tonic and Alteraiive on ‘this side of the Atlantic. In popularity it has never been approached by any of its would-be competitors, and its annual sales are so far in advance of those of any other medicines of its class, that comparisons would be ridiculous. One of two conclusions is inevitable. Either the American people are deficient ia common sense, and incapable of rational discrimination, or Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters is the best preventive remedy for indigestion; fever and ague, bilious remittent fever, éonstipation rheu, matism; nervous complaints, and all maladies of an epidemic or endemic type. The reader will judge. for himself which-of-the two conclusions is most consistent with fact and reason. ah A Card to the Public. E, the undersigned, do hereby certify, that we have employed : DR. F.
