LOCAL MATTERS.
FREIGHTING.—The roads are now getting
_,will soon be coming into town. A large
‘amount of wheat shipped from San Fran¢is.
co for the Nevada Flouring mill had been
stored and the mill had to suspend opera”
tions in consequence ‘of its not arriving.—
Several loads. haye been delivered. at the
mill during the past few days, and it
will commence -operatiotis again shortly.— . .
Until the present season the mill has sup‘plied the entire market in the county, but

A NeEvapa Lionat PARIS.—Many of our
citizens ‘will remember Monsieur A. Liebert,
who was proprietor of a picture gallery on
Brohd tiéet, in ‘this city.” Well, ‘Liebert
went to Paris, and became a lion in his
teal part of the city, at'a cost of $10,000
He annoitinces himself as the great American Photographist, and\ the papers of the
French metropolis béstowed great praise
upon him. His farlors are ‘daily crowded
with Parisians desirous of obtaini nga picture.
Our informant says Liebert is doing an immense business, He’ learnt a good many
sharp tricks of the. Yankees;when in Amer
ica, and among them, “that the great sécret
of success in businees is in advertising.”
PROTRACTED MEETING.—Meetings, have
been held at the MethodistChureh-in—-this
city since last Sunday night. _ Considerable
_ tions attend.. The Rev. David Deal, Presid:
ing Elder of the District, will preach to-night»
and the meetings will continue to the end of
the week. We need an awakening among
the “dry bones” of christians in this place,
and tlie regeneration of sinners. We hope
the church will be crowded for the . balance
ofthe week. ~ :
SANITARY Party at You BET.<The

NEw Drve Store.t-W. H. Kent hag
opened a fine drugstore at No. 1 Commercial street. The store is neatly fitted up
and the -stock consists of perfumery of all
kinds—drugs, medicines, chemicals and
everything usually found_in_such a store,
AFTER MEAT.—On last Tuesday night
the slats were’ knocked off the gates at
Findley’s meat market, and about twentyfive poun(s of méat stolen. “A basket taken
at the samé time was found inside the theater building. . No:trace of the thief has ever
been found. It doubtless was some fellow
who could'nt pay the prices meat is com:
manding at present.
RECRUITING IN -NevaDa.-—The Maryaville Appeal of yesterday says that Lt. Wilber, of Company A, will go to Nevada
‘ county to-day, on rectuiting service. Het

‘Tue Trwese ALMANAC.—Tho Tribune
of the war for the past year, in epitome, full
election returns from every State and the
officers of government. Itis surprising that
& volume so small and cheap should contain
so,thuch information. Crawford has a large
supply of them.
Fiwep.—After the fair member of the
hurdy gurdy troupe was found guilty by the}
jury on last Tuesday, the other three plead
guilty and the troupe was fined by Judge
Smith. The fines and costs amounted in
the aggregate to $118. We understand the
search of some more congenial clime.
