PRorRACTED Mesrnxes.—The Con5
nominations have been holding wen
occupying two evenings of the week at
‘each church. ‘These meetings have been .
well attended and the interest in religious matters increased. It is quite
probable that they will be continued
through the presant week, as it appears to be the expressed wish of the
réligions portion of the community .—
Due notice, however, will be given from
the various — to-day.
: Maynw: Rexp’s ; New Magazine —
The first number of this 1 handsomely
printed and beautifully illustrated magazine, called “Onward,” was issued in
New York on the tat, ofJanuary. This
is decidedly one of finest pablications for young’ folks we have seen.—
The publisher states that its “design is
not only to entertain and amuse, but to
instract, elevate and conduct the youth
along that path "Yeading to the highest
and noblest manhood.” Certainly if we
may judge what the book will be by
the first number, the design Will be accomplished. This magazine may be

A Spiewprp ENGRAVING.—Geo. R.
Crawford yesterday received Frank Leslie’s Pictorial for Deceitiber 26th, containing a splendid picture of Grant at

sketch worth preserving. It will make a
fine ornament for the sitting room. The
paper and suppliment is furnished for
75 cents. Those who want to obtain
one should call soon, as the supply is.
