Everything above ground seems to
have ‘‘sprungaleak”’ again. For the
twenty-four hours ending at dark last
night rain has fallen in this city more
steadily and in greater profusion than
any time since the rains of this seqson commenced. The South Yuba}
Canal Co’s guage shows a fall of 5.28
inches in seventeen hours and a half,
and a total -of) 56.93 inches for the,
season. During this storm a great
deal of snow has fallen in the mountwins and last evening the hills were
covered with snow to within a very
short distance of this city. Theridge
atthe Town-Talk was algo covered . that the
with snow. At Moore's Flat on Wednesday morning the snow was. four
feet deep and yesterday it was nearly .
as deep between this city and Quaker
Hill. The storm of the past twodays
has been all snow above this city and
we should not be surprised if it were
10° or 12 feet deep in Eureka townin “Meadow Lake township, in this
county. The miners could pos be
better satisfied if they had had the
ordering of the snow and rain asit is
now, they will have an abundance of .
water to last till the next season, provided it comes on time.
The Banner Mine.
J Since the stormis commenced it has
been difficult to keep the Banner
mine clear of water. They have two}
pumps, one ten inch and one twelve
ineh running to their full capacity
and still the water gains on—them.—
For several days, when the storm abated, the water was reduced at the rate .
of four feet per day, but the present .
heavy storm has given them m
water than the pumps could raise,
The water drove the workmen out of
the six hundred foot level and then
reached the four hundred foot level
