Blast at Sucker Flat.
9
The Blue Point Gravel Mining
Company, at Sucker Flat, discharg-ed an immense blast:on last Wednesday at their mine. 25 tons of Judson powder was the quantity used,
which did immense execution. The
bank at the face of the diggings is
300 feet high, making the use of
large quantities of powder a positive
necessity. 35 or 40 white men are
employed in the Blue Point mine.
By the way, there is a very: stong
anti-Chinese sentiment prevailing at
Smartsville, Sucker Flat, Timbuctoo
. and Mooney Flat. The mining companies there believe in white labor,
and the miners are not inclined to
tolerate competition with Chinese
ehedp labor.—*, «'. Inde endent.
