With the opening-up’ of immense},
new ore bodies fi various mines
in this district, and the consequent
increased proilustions of sulphurets,
fhe necessity for greater facilities
for reducing the latter becomes more
ai more aiid more apparent. The

their completion supposed to: have
ample facilities for reducing not only what sulphurets might be produo=
ed by the Merrifield mine, _ but, also
to work those of the Wyoming ; and
‘Nevada City mine in the same Vicinity. Since then’ the production
of sulphurets from” the Merrifield
mine alone,has increased to thirteen
tons or thercabouts per day, and the
enlargement of the works is said to
be contemplated.
