Mrs. Emma Merriam, a niece of
Jobn Fred. Schmidt, of San Jaan,
Bays the Times, met with a. terrible
accideat on Monday last, which may
cause her the loss of the use of her
left hand, Ip trying to cut off the
head of u chicken with a large sized
butcher knife, she nearly cut off her
left hand at the wrist. How-the accident occurred, she’ cannot tell.
The wound bled profusely, as all the
tendens and arteries on the back of
the wrist were severed. Dr. Samuel
tied the arteries and dressed the
wound, and the last heard-from the
lady she was feeling cheerful.
