Beautifying a Church.
Tue: Union thus describes the improvements that have just beén made
to the Methodist Church in Grass
Valley: A new roof of redwood shingles has been puton and the roof painted, The interior has undergone a
complete renovation, the walls being
tinted a delicate sky blue, the wood
work of the galleries, columns and
pilasters in blue, gold and pearl gray,
and the wainscoting is light chocolate
color, the whole giving a light and
cheerful coloring that is quite pleasing
to the eye. The seats have all received new coats of graining of mainoziny color, and the aisles and-altar
hive been laid with a new crimson
carpet, of modest figure, which makes
a striking but not violent contrast to
walls and wood work of the church.
Electric lights have been introduced,
two large burners being used, which
