The Celebration. _ Yesterday the colored people celebrated in a creditable manner the anniversary of the emancipation of slaves in the United States. ~The celebration was gotten up by the Lincoln Club Salutes-were fired andthe bells rung at sunrise, noon and sunset, and excellent music was discoursed by the Ne» vada Brass Band, composed of colored men. Quite a number of visitors from Grass Valley came up and participated in the observance of the day. The exercises at the’ Church were very interesting, consisting of voval music and addresses. The oration was delivered by George A. Cantine, and an address was also delivered by Rev. Peter Killingsworth. The celebration concluded with a dance at Temperance Hall,which was well attended. Bad Boys. Recently several of the locks of the Post. Office boxes have been broken pen by bad boys, whe attempt to open them with keys which do not fit. Sev-. : eral of the youngsters have been seen in the set of opening lock boxes in which they haveno right, and unless the prac. tice is abandoned an example will be made of them.
