LOCAL INTELLIGENCE.
Tez MvurRpDERERS oF McDANIELs.—
. We learn from.a gentleman who came up
is but little doubt in regard to the-discoyery of the murderers of McDaniels. The
decehsed’s store was entered and. he was
murdered and robbed some weeks ago.—
been employed in that place for some time, .
guage, secreted himself under the floor of
a cabin, and listened to a conversation between the suspected parties. The China-.
men were disputing about the amount
one declaring there was $600 and another
declaring that it was more. In the cou
stolen atthe time of the murder, was in
his shirt pocket. ‘The officer immediately
procured assistance, arrested the men, and
on searching found the watch as stated.—
A considerable amount of money has been
offered for the arrest of these murderers,
$1,000 being offered by a Chinese merchant of Dutch Flat, who is a cousin of one
of the parties arrested.

Bev Rock TunnEL.—The North Bloom.
field Gravel Mining Company, which purchased a range of gravel claims sometime
ago, near North Bloomfield have been
pushing forward their works with great
energy.—They are running a bed rock tun_nel and cut for the purpose of opening the
claims to a greater depth than they have’
yet been worked. They have let a contract to parties to ran this tunnel or which
the contractors receive forty-eight dollars per foot, the Company paying all the
expense for powder and tools. This tunnel is being run through very hard rock.
g
Srnere ScHooL.—Mr. Chase’s singing

THE Wrona Room.—On Tuesday night
an hombre who was thoroughly under the
influence of “barley-juice,” entered the
wrong room in one of our city hotels.—
The occupant of the room heard him and
in no very mild terms told him to leave.
He“repaired to the Clerk’s office in his
stocking feet, and enquired for his room.
The Clerk asked his name; when the ined——d thief, and I don’t. remember . ‘any
other name.” He was evidently oblivious.
In Town.—N. A. H. Ball, of Gold Hill,
who made a host of friends during his
stay in this city, some five years ago, arrived.on Tuesday last from Nevada. He
-islooking well, and not much older for the
five years since we last saw him.
