smooth gold, showing that they came
from.a regular channel. The -claim
from which this-gold came, comprises .
170 acres, upon which a prospecting
shaft was sunk ‘to-the depth—of 114
feet, and thena tunnel driven in 500
feet, from which a winze was sunk
on account of the bed rock pitching.
From the bottom of this winze the
‘prospect herein. mentioned was -taken, but on account, of the water being quick, it has been found necessa¥y to run a lower tunnel to strike the
channel at is lowest depth. This
tunnel has been rin several hundred .
feet, and will have to\be driven 600
further to reach the gravel cliannel
and secure complete drainage. This
will require. some months time, or
until the coming Summer, when there
isno doubt one of the richest gravel
claims in the county will be. opened.
