Pork, Lard and. Sausages,
To those previous persons who
are talking of organizing Blaine &
Logan clubs for 1888, Senator Logan presents his compliments and
begs to be counted out., He is
represented as saying that he has
sacrificed enough by accepting the
second place on the ticket_once,
inasmuch as if he had been at liberty todevote his energies during
the campaign to his own State the
Legislature would have been_surely Republican, and his re-election
as Senator would have been assured. :
Some savants are inclined to the
belief that the earth has a fossiliferous skin, fifteen or_more miles
in-thickness, and’ that it is -continually growing by meteoric accretion. Whenit.gets.to be as
large as Jupiter, they think it
will have .a red-hot surface like
that planet, and whenas large as
thesun it will shine. Look out

Bob Burdette: Let me tell-you
how to write mean letters and
bitter editorials, my boy. Some
time, when a man_has pitched intome and ‘‘cut me up rough,’”
‘and I want to pulverize him, and
wear his gory scalpjat, my girdle,
and hang his hide on my fence,
I write the letter or editorial that
is to-do the business. TI write
something that will drive sleep

him over a slow fire and roast
him. Gall and aquafortis drip
from my blistering pen. Then, I
don’t mail the letter and I don’t
print the editorial. There’s' always plenty of time to crucify a
man. The vilest criminal is entitled to.a little reprieve. I put
the manuscript away in a drawer.
Next day I look at it. The ink is
cold, I read it over and say: ‘‘‘T
don’t know about this. There’s a
good deal of bludgeon and_ bowie
knife journalism in that. .T’ll
hold it over a day longer.” The
next day I read it again. Ilaugh,
and say: ‘‘Pshaw!”’ and I can feel
my cheeks getting a little hot.
The fact_is lam ashamed I ever
wrote it, and hope that nobody
has seen it, and I have half forgotten the article or letter thatfiled my soul with rage. I
haven’t been hurt, I haven’t hurt
anybody, and the world goes right
along, making 24 hours a day as
usual, and Iam all the happier.
Try it, my boy.

PILES! PILES! PILES!
A SURE CURE FOUND AT LAST!
No One Need Suffer.
A sure cure for Blind, Bleeding,
Itching and Ulcerated Piles. has
been discovered by Dr. Williams
(an Indian Remedy,) called Dr.
William’s Indian Pile Ointment.
A single box has cured the worst
chronic. cases of 25 or 30 years
standing. No one need suffer five
minutes after applying this wonderful soothing medicine. Lotions,
instruments and électuaries do
more harm than good. William’s
Indian Pile Ointment absorbs the
tumors, allays the intense itching,
(particularly at night after getting
warm in bed,) acts as a poultice,
gives instant relief, and is prepared only for Piles, itching of the private parts, and for nothing else.
Read what the Hon. J. M. Coffinberry of Cleveland says about Dr
William’s Indian Pile Ointment:

It is officially stated that there is
no truth in the item going the
rounds of the press to the .effect
that a general reduction of the salaries of station masters along the
Central Pacific railroad lines * has
recently been made. The only
changes are: those which are
made at regular intervals, certain
salaries: being raised, and others
lowered, according to the amount
of business transacted.
