LOCAL AFFAIRS.
The Truckee Republican gives the
following feat~of dancing: “At the
ball recently given by Hope Lodge,
No. 84, F. & A. M.; at Betkwith,
past seven in the evening,-and never
stopped till a quarter to seven next
morniiigWhen it-came supper
time halfof the music went-to supkept up constantly till the hour
above mentioned, After ‘having
breakfast and a short rest they commenced again and danced without
noon. If anybody thinks they can’t
enjoy dancing out in. Sierra Valley,
let him go out and attend one of their
parties, and see for himself.”
John Keiser has become part owner of the Lruckee Republican. He
isa stirring, live business’ man, a
first-class fellow, and the new firm
will without doabt meet with sucecoss. The Republican is a first-class
paper, and deserves the liberal pat=. ~

Considerable uneasiness is felt by
the laborers of the town, owing to
the recent erection of a large China
