Rantz were being held by Mr. Lewis of the Tid‘ings, aad many of the audience-were called to put their ears close to the siates to hear the writing which could be plainly heard when the audience was quiet, The slates were pried opeu as before, and first was a communication in telegraphic characters coverihg half the slate.
