We have heard the folowing mentioned :. For Senator, Dr. Martin of Red Dog, Miles P, O’Connor of Grass Valley, Judge Aud of Meadow Lake, and A. Morse of Grass Valley ; Assembly, T. A, Sliter and”’W. Coombe ; Sheriff, John H. Djxon, J. H. Helm; County Clerk, R. Shoemaker ; Road Commissioner, Ike Lloyd, Frank Cleavland, Dan. Clancey; Coroner, W. C: __Pope; Treasurer, Ira A. Eaton and R. W. Tally; District Attorney, G. L: Waters; Assessor, J. J. Dorsey. Some of the parties given are avowed candidates, and others have been talked of by friends. Since the above wag’writ~ ten, we learn that Saml T. Oates will also be a candidate for the Senatorial nomination. > a. NevaDa County MeN at WHITE _ Piyg.—Ed McSorley informs us that an election will be held in White Pine District on the 20th, for Mining Recorder,-an office worth from $6,000 to $8,000 per year. There are some twelve candidates in the field, among ‘them J. Bence Van Hagan, formerly Sheriff of this county, Jim. Clancey and Jos. Jacobs, also.former residents of the’ county. The candidates are all running independent,.and Mc. thinks one of the Nevada boys will win. Wanm.—For some days past the weather has been very pleasant, and last week we had one ortwodays when a fire made the temiperature more agreeable, but yesterday the mercury went up considerably, the thermometer numbering 88 in-the shade,in our office, THe MInEs.—The Grass Valley mines have been in the brick making business during the last few days, and the result is-good: : The Eureka yesterday had some gold bricks which weighed altogether, 1,260 ounces, and these were sent below. From New York Hill there has been a crushing of twenty-three loads which Fielded about $500 in coin. Ben. Macauley’s mill did this last. : The Kaho mine, for a two weeks run, sent below yesterday morning, bricks valued at $14,000. Our readers can see ‘that the brick makers of Grass Valley, notwithstanding there are no new build. ings here, ‘are making it pay. So says the Grass Valley Union: . New ALMADEN Vichy WATER.— While. Califcrnia possesses the finest mineral springs in the world, hundreds being able to testify to the efficacy of these waters for the restoration of health in certain diseases, no attempt has ever been made until recently to put up water from these springs in a shape to be transported, while we have been all the time importing French Vichy and other foreign mineral waters. The Almaden Vichy js said to be equal to any of these in its medicinal qualities, while it possesses some additions. It has @ large proportion of iron, is of lower temperature and contains more carbonic acid. In all cases of indiges« tion, want of appetite or conditions of the system requiring tonics,Vichy is an excellent remedy. A. Isoard has the agency of this coanty, and those who desire to purchase, either by wholesale or retail, can procure it for San Francisco prices, freight added. Dan.
