Owing to the destructive influence exercised by them on the natural coloring matter of the hair, “ the first gray hair” _ has appeared frequently long before Of late years however, the nature of the the period ordained by nature. ~ these laws, which regulate ‘ health, growth and decay of the human hair, has been. the subject of exhaustive reséarch by the leading ‘physicians of both Europe and America. They found, from observation and analysis, that these preparations sold owel their active principle-to either a mineral or a vegetable poison, and that they were one aud all dangerous to health. It having been clearly proved that these preparations which, had for their basis mineral or vegetable poisons, were not only ineffectual but absolutely dangerous, substitutes were sought for them in the harmless product of the vegetable kingdom. Many attempts were made and many failures encountered, but one by one the stumbling blocks in the path of science were overcome. It was found possible to attain all ends desired by the employment of non-poisonous vegetable products of to atrophy. Where the hair is a:teady commencing to fail out it atonce arrests its decay.
