The Universal Desire.
The universal desire to beautify
~-the hair and to preserve it as ong of
the chief attributes of manhood has
__given rise to drugs and nostrums
_. Without number, designed to produce
the desired effect. Dangerous chem}
acal and mineral poisons, unfortunately, form’ the base of only too
many of these preparations. How
much of these preparations have done
it would be hard to properly estianate. Atrophy of the scalp, causing
_ premature baldness, has been a com_ mon sequitor of their use. Owing to
the destructive influence exercised
by them on the natural coloring matter of the hair, “ the first gray hair”
_ has appeared frequently long before
Of
late years however, the nature of
the
the period ordained by nature. ~
these laws, which regulate
‘ health, growth and decay of the human hair, has been. the subject of exhaustive reséarch by the leading
‘physicians of both Europe and America. They found, from observation
and analysis, that these preparations
sold owel their active principle-to
either a mineral or a vegetable poison,
and that they were one aud all dangerous to health. It having been
clearly proved that these preparations
which, had for their basis mineral or
vegetable poisons, were not only ineffectual but absolutely dangerous,
substitutes were sought for them in
the harmless product of the vegetable
kingdom. Many attempts were
made and many failures encountered,
but one by one the stumbling blocks
in the path of science were overcome.
It was found possible to attain all
ends desired by the employment of
non-poisonous vegetable products of
to atrophy. Where the hair is a:teady
commencing to fail out it atonce arrests its decay. Where the hair is in
a healthy condition it preserves and
enhances its color“and uty.
The large. public patronage-and the
flattering manner in which it is
everywhere spoken of furnish conclusive proofs of its merit and potency,
While rigid chemical anaylsis shows
~ itto be entirely free from those substances which so frequently agzravate the evil they pretend to cure.
