THe MAiL Mrs-MaKAGEMENT.—In almost @very-euntract let fur’ carrying . thip
United States mails, “wehave: the evidences of the ignorance of the authorities at
Washington in regard tu the wants of ‘the
people of this coust. Not more thana year
ego the entire northern section.of this State
aiid Oregon wat cut off and left without
any mail communication for several weeks.
Ta this county a contract was recently made
fur the conveyance of the wails from Marys:
ville te Rough and Ready, cutting off Grass
Valley and Nevada from Marysville. We

not the proprietors of the stage line yolunteered’ to bring the mails through: The
last break in relation tothe muile, id to-redace the service from Sacramento to Nevada, Grass Valley, Downteville and other
places on the line to» tri weekly. We are
satisfied that the Department: at Washing:
ton would never establish such regulations
if the population wnd the wants of the towns
along the line uf travel were properly represented. For such outrageous. blunders
the people are’ indebted to the mail agenté
on this coast, Whose duty it is to inform the
Government in these matters.
