OvuGHT To BE RemoveD.—The Indians

mile from ‘towa, are getting to be a great
puisance:Severalcomplaiuts have been
made lately of their depredations on the
orchards and gardens in this vicinity, —
Watching their opportynity when the male
portion of the family are absent, they boldly
enter the eoelosures and help themselves to
whatever they please. When ordered off
by the female occupants, they tauntingly
laugh aud draw their bows and arrows, causing the lady, whoever sbe may be, to beat a
hasty rétreat. Nor are these petty acts of
robbery all that is complained of. “Cows
have been found with arrows sticking in
them, from the effect of which one is known.
te bave died. Culves have been missed in
that vicinity, norcan any traces of them be
discovered. Unless something is done soon:
by those having authority; to prevent such
outrageous proceedings, “forbearance. wil!
cease to be a virtue,” and some fine morning we may expect to hear of a “dead injin”’
or two inthat vicinity. Threats to that ef.
fect have been made, but we would suggest
to our ranching friends ta use all lawful
means to bave the Indians removed tothe
reservation, where they belong, before putting their threate into effect —

A TRAITOR AT LarGe.—A dispatch has
been received in San Franeieco, announcing
the escape of Ridgely Greathouse, one of the
Chapman pirates, from Fort Lafayette, and
his flight into Canada.
