The Grass Valley Union says: A
branch, chapter, ex_-whertever-4t4s"
catied, of the Ancient Order of Hibernians was “established in Grass
Valley last Saturday night. The officers are, Pat. English, President; P.
H. Ford, Vice President; Michael
‘Hoyne, Corresponding Secretary Jno,
Fisher; “Recording and Financial Secretary.
The Grass Valley Union man is
not good at guessing. If he does not
_ do. better.than_he did about the:
_ Traxscrret men, he had. better let
up. The Union, however, cannot
be expected to know anything about
a Rae Primaries, even. after he
is told.
They are going to have singing and
dancing in a saloon at.Grass Valley
__ for the championship on Saturday
night.
The Union says Grass Valley has
not been cleaned up since 1855. A
cleaning in that city would probably
,do the Union good.
. They say fish bite well in cloudy
weather, What a fine day yesterday
would have béen for *‘fish biters”’ in
Nevada, had there been any. °

Street Might.
On Monday evening a disgraceful
street fight occurred between James
Freuch and’John Burbridge. After
abusing each other for nearly’ half
an honr, by indulging freely in vulgarity and profanity, during all of
whica three ladies and children were
passing along the street, they commenced fighting snd continued for
some time before the officers arrived
on the ground.. Both parties were arrested for disturbing the peace, by
“traducing, quarreling, challenging
to fight and fighting,”’ We would
suggest that the oflicers arrange so
that they do not all go to supper at
the same hour. Once or twice such
occurrences have taken place when
the officers were at supper. Had
both these combatants been arrested
promptly when they were abusing
each other in ,vile language, a disgiaceful fight might have beén prevented.

The Wear and Tear of. Life,
The ! cares, anxieties and misfortunesof life haye as much to do with shortening
it as diseare. They are in fact the source
of many ailments and physical disabilities.
Nervons weakness, dyspepsia, affections of
the liver, distu¥bances of the bowels, headaches, hypochondria and monomania are
among these distressing fruits, It is,therefore, of great —importande that« persons
whose minds are oppressed with heavy business responsibilities, or harassed with
family troubles, or excited by.speculation,
or perplexed by a multiplicity of. enterprises, or in any way overtaxed or over.
worked, ‘should keep up their stamina by
the daily use of a wholesome tonic. Thousands of persons thus circumstanced are
enabled to “bear; up against the difficulties
in which they are involved, and to retain
} their strength, health and mental ‘clearness,
‘Bitters. Diseases which are prone to attack the body when debilitated and broken
down by over-much brain-work, orexhausting physical labor, are kept.at bay by the
resistant power with which this incomparable tonic endows the nervous system and
the vital organs. At this season, when the
heat is evaporating the elements of strength
from every pore, an invigorant 18 absolutely
essential to the safety and comfort of the .
public, and is required even by the more
robust if they desire to keep their athletic
capabilitiesin status quo. Hence a course
of Hostetter’s Bitters is particularly useful
at this period of the year as a defence
against the invisible disease afloat in a sultry atmesphere. It is the most pctent of
all preventive medicines, and for. all com.
plaints which affect the stomach, the liver
and the bowels, and interfere with the perfect digestion and aesimilation of food, it
is the standard remedy.
