Our readoy witvawd Crt tT, Cit.’ In his speech on Saturday evening Jast, Col. Lewis,.the nominee for Lt. «Governor en the Democratic ticket, said “the Bemooratic party was a -friend tothe laboring man.”’ *““Why,”’ said he, “I have earned my own living by the sweat of my brow for seven years!” That wasa startling anniouncement for a Democratic office seeker to make, and many a man -who heard him doubted the truth of tthe statement. As soon as he uttered this, one of his Democratic friends said to another: ‘‘The fellow must tbe 35 or 40 years of age, and he says he only paid his way for seven years, and by the looks of Lewis’ diamond ring, latest style cravat and collar, and that coat, he can’t hambug us by being a friend to the laboring man:”’ “‘Yes,’’ said the friend, ‘the thinks :we are d—— fools, and will swallow everything he says because wé are Democrats. He wont get my vote.’’ ‘‘Nor mine’’’ said the other. Lewis had better put .on a miner’s suit, @ la Gwin, if he wants to fool the laboring man into voting for him. Glorious and delightful as the Summer weather is, its tropical heat is a severe trial to the vital powers. Even the strongest are sometimes prostrated by its effects, The common phrase applied to this condition of the body is “general debility." Now, general debility arises from,.and. inclades. a Q* AND AFTER MONDAY, JULY 17th, THIRTY-ONE DAYS, the old stand, Pine Street, for the paltry sum of ANTEED, AND. 2 rs AND FOR— CHAS. The liver is more or less affected, the bowels are either constipated or too much relaxed, the stomach but half performs the work of digestion, the appetite is poor, and the spirits depressed. This is what is called general debility. It is a general disarrangement of all the physical functions, and requires as a remedy a medicine that will regulate them all. Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters is specially adapted Its general operation is not confined to # single organ. If the-liver is affected it restores its tone. If the stomach is torpid, it regenerates it. If the nervas are tremulous and weak, it braces andreinforcesthem. If the mind, which ever sympathises with the body, is gloomy and despondent, it relieves the difliculty, and soon brings the whole mechanism of the body into — with the laws of health. There is no civilized nation in the Western Hemisphere in which the utillty of Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters as a tonic, corrective and anti-bilious medicine, is not known and appreciated. Throughout the Tropics it is considered, both by the people and the profession, the standard specific. While it is a medicine for ali seasons and all climates, it is especially suited to the complaints generated by the weather, being, the purest and best vegetable stimulant in the world. Beware of the Bitters made of acrid and! dangerous materials, which unscrupulous parties are endeavoring to foist upon the people. Their name is legion, and the public has no guarantee that they are not ts sonous. Adhere to the tried remedy, tetter’s Bitters, sold only in glass, and never in kegs or barrels. PAIN KILLER. PEBRY DAVIS & SON, PROVIDENCE, RB. I., PROPRIETORS. 1840. 1871. The “ Par KILLER” may justly be styled the great medicine of the world, for there is no region of the globe into which it has not found its way, aud been largely used and highly prized. .Moreover, there is no clime to waich it has not proved to be well adapted for the cure of a considerable variety of diseases; it isa speedy and safe remedy for burns, scalds, cuts, braises, wounds, and various other injuries, as well as for dysentery, diarrhuea, and bowel complaints generally, it is admirably suited for every race of men on the face of the globe. It. is a very sisnificant fact, that, notwithstanding the long period of ycars that the = Pain Killer” has been befsre the world, it has never lost one whit of its popularity, but, on the contrary, the call fur it has steadily increased frum its first discovery‘ and at no previous time has the demand for it been so great, ur the quantity made been 60 large, as to-day Another mumacaed tact is, that nowhere has the Pain Kilicr ever been in bigher re-. pute, or been inure generally used by fainilies and individuals, taan it has been here at home, where it was first discovered and introduced. That the Pain Killer will continue to be, what we have styled it, Taz GREAT MEDICINE OF THE WORLD not be the saalow of & doubt. ~{Brovidence .
