Sheriff—Joseph Perrin, known all

miner.and rancher. Filled the office of Sheriff one term a few years

OClerk—J, G. O'Neill,\ a school
teacher at Columbia Hi. Has resi‘ded in the county many years.
Treasurer—G. von Schmittburg,
who resides in this cit#, is in business, and is very poptlar with all
classes, He was Postmaster: here for
four years.
Recorder—John A. Rapp is ; the
present incumbent of the office, and
discharges his dutics in a creditable
manner.
District Attorney—E. H. Gaylord
, fills the office at present. The people are’ pleased with his record.
Assessor—James Reid w a bonny
Scotchman, and resides at Moore's
\ Flat where he is part. owner in the
~~ Blue Banks mine. He is a good man.
~Surveyor—H. S, Bradley is present
: Surveyor and resides in thiacity. He

ore, instead of narth as most miners
believe they should. have done, and
the profits were notso great as could
have been desired. About teu years
ago the hoisting works burned‘down,
and the owners being somewhat discouraged at such a misfortune abandoned.the. property. The relocators
say they intend to have works put
up again and push ahead the develepment-of the ledge,'the ifcline and
drain stilt being being in gidid shape.
Mistery of Nevada County.

have five canvassers and collectors
already at work, and three more are
on the way here. They havealready
lithographed a large number of views

The tunnel of the Moston & Davis
ledge at Orleans Flat is now ina distance of 320 feet, giving 180 feet

Con natable Peters of Grass Valley
came up yesterday morning . with
John Winger, an escaped inmate of
Napa Insane Asylum. whom he’ had
captured at Grass Valley. The prisouer was locked .up in the County
