the entire copperhead‘ party.: The President has been called upon to disperse the
‘Rump Congress” and “drive the traitors
from the capital.” .These denunciations
come from men, who during the rebellien
sustained every inhuman act of the rebels,
and who aré how demanding the release of
Jefferson Davis and the admission of Alex"
ander Stephens, Wade Hampton and such
their wicked instincts, they now demaud
the pardon of traiturs and the punishment
of loyal men. Jeff, Davis, who murdered
Union mew in rebel prison-pens,deluged the
land in blood, and desolated the South, is
worthy of clemency, but Thad. Stevens,
whose only crime is that he has labored to
make ‘‘treason odious,” they would send to
the dungeon. The motives vf these frends
of treason are not new; they. are actuated

THE corner-stone of the new Centenary
