An Ordinance prvviding for the Licensing ; of Dogs. 2 HE TRUSTEES of the City of Nevada do ordain as follows: ; Section 1. It shall.not be lawful for the owners or other persons having tlre charge of dogsto allow them to-run at large,within the corporate limits of .the city of Nevada except as provided for in this ordi nance. : Section 2. Every owner or other person having the charge of dogs suall pay & license for keeping each dog the sum of payable in advance at‘ the arshal's office. Section 8. The Marshal shall provide for ch person applying fora license under this ordinance s brass taz stamped with a consecutive number, which tag shall be securely fastened upon the neck of the dogfor which the license is taken out. He shall also furnish to.the person taking out the license a receipt for the amount of money paid with the’ date of the license. . Section 4. It shall be the duty of. the Warshal nnd Policeman to take-up-and confine in ‘some suitable place all dogs found running at large within the corporate limits of the city, the owners of which this ordinance. And any person or persons obstructing the officers in the discharge of their duties, under this ordinance shull, on the conviction thereof be fined in: any sum not Jess than twenty und not to exceed one jundred dollars, or be imprisoned in the city prison for a term not to exceed ten days. Section 5. It shall be the duty of the Marshal to advertise all dogs taken up under Sec. 4 of this ordinanc2, by postings ‘notice in front.of bis office giving .as accurate a description of them as may be. He shall keep them at least forty-eigut hours after advertising, subject to yedemption. Any person claiming any dog taken up as provided in this ordinance, shall pay to the Marshal the amount of the license and twe dollars,which the Marshal shall be allowed toretain as a compensation for feeding and Keeping said dog, At the expiration of the time of redemption the Marshal shall proceed to kill such dogs and dispose of them jn such manner as not to create a nuisance to the inhabitants of tiee city. Section 6. In any case whero, from the nature or shyness of a dog it would be dans gerous or impossible to make euch arrest as . the Register of the Sacramento Land Disis provided in Section £ orthis ordinance, the Marshal or Policeman is authorized to kill such dogs by recog, B wr otherwise, and to dispose of them 8s éretofore provided. : s Section 7.
