the sun gazers burst upon his view:
Iie stared at them for a moment, and

whirled, and left the premises as fast
as his legs could carry him. The
amount of it was that the pedlar did

called upon engaged in making their
crude observations, thought that a

CLEANING THE JAIL
Yesterday the prisoners were busily engaged in scrubbing and whitewashing the interior of the County
Jail, and when the job is competed
everything thereabouts will look as
Bicely as could be wished. It will
be a gratifying bit.of intelligence—to+
the taxpayers to know that this work;
which previously cost the county
$60 a year, is now all done by the
inmates. The management of the
jail bas of late been conducted with
4 strict view to economy, and the
authorities who. trought about the
change deserve great credit therefor.
THE SUPERVISORS ADJOURN,
At the seasion of the Board of Suef
pervisors held on Monday, demands
against the county to the atiount of
$1,405.59 were allowed. The financial affairs of the: Trustees of Mooney
Flat school district were investigated
and foand correct, and further consideration thereof dismiesed. After
transacting some other business, the
Board adjourued for the term.
