Thi State candidates of each party are in the field, ratification meetings are tx ing held, and it is not too early for’ Republicans to cOmmeénce organizing. It is probable that more eflicicat. Crganjzation, in this county at least, will wait.upen the election of a new County Central Committce; but there is abundant opportunity for work before the meeting of the Coun‘ ty Convention. The issues are before the people, and are thoroughly understood. . San Francisco far ahead of the interior in the matter of organization. Her ward clubs are numerous and effective, and furnish the méans of united action. With our State ticket there is no local dissatisfaction; nor should there be, for it is most excellent in every particular. Immediate organization will also bespeak an entire unanimity on . the county ticket, for it will enable the very best selection of delegates to the Convention, and allow the members of the party to exercise duc discrimination in the choice of candidates. The enrollment and registration of voters, those very materinl and important considerations, will . thus receive the attention required . by their importance, and which cowld not obtain in any other way. We advise our party fnends to prompt action in this matter, We would also tirge upon our State Central Committee the importance of an active and thorough canvass of the State. inaugurated, and everybody can see the dissentions and bickerings in the Democratic ranks. but a short one, and a greater degree ef activity is therefore incumbent. “Union is strength;”’ and by a thorough and immediate organization . the possibility of defeat will be precluded, while the triumph of the Republican ticket will be insured. Water Srovt Burst.—<A dispatch €0 the Appeal, dated Reno, July ith, says: A water spout burst in the mountains fourteen miles west of Reno last evening. It washed a great quaatity of earth and smal! rock on the track of the Central Pacific Railroad, About 9r.m. a freight train coming east, at the rate of twelve miles an hour, ran into the slide, the engineer not being abie to see itin time to stop the train.
