THE County CONVENTION.—By reference to the call, published in to-day's paper, at will be seen that the Union County Con_ ventivn will meetin this city on the 16th day of June. The primaries will be held Usiion men ef the county will meet and decide the issues upon which they differ.— The friends of Low on the one hand atidof. Sargent op the other will each strive to secure control of the Convention. We have no doubt of the result. Among the Unien men in the county there is an overwhelm‘ing majority in favor of Sargent fer the United States Senate The issue is te be met at the primaries, and delegates who will nominate men that will use all honorable ‘means to secure his election will be sent to the Convention. Union men should be at work and watchful that they be act deceived by false issues! Be notdistracted from the main point at issue by friendship forginy individual. The contest in the county will inthe guns and be ready to meet the issue. PROCEEDINGS OF THE UNton County CENTRAL COMMITTEE.—The Union County Central Committee met inthis city yesterday, pursuant to call. Present—Messrs. Sargent, Farquhar, Crawford, Rolfe, Roberts, Leach, Taylor, McGoun, ‘and Stanley. . . The Committee adopted the test which will be found appended to the callin another celamn. The sicetibeeniaal of delegates to the County Convention-was made on the basis of the vote cast for Lincela and Johnson at the last election, as fullows: One delegate for each precinct; one for every fifty votes and one for every fractiva of fifty votes over thirty. The numberof delegates to which each precinct is entitled will be found in the call. A Resolution was passed calling a Union Convention to meet in this city.on Saturday, the 17th of June. The primaries will be held on Thursday the 13th A Resvlution was passed for the publication of the proceedings ofthe Committee in all the Union papers of the county. — E. O. Tompkins’ House —E. O. Tompkins has erected a splendid hotel in Bear Valley, capable of accommodating finy number of guests. Those whe want to spend a week in a beautiful country, away from the cares of business, and those who want to find the best climate in this State, should visit Tompkins’ place. The house is furnished with every accommodation for viaitors. The streams in the Valley contain fish in plenty, game_ is found in abundance, the scenery is’ magnificent, and when the plains are parched and dry the fields in Bear Valley are beautiful. We advise all who desire tospend a pleasant week in the ‘hills to go to Bear Valley. The road is excellent and the trip can be easily made -in a few hours from this city. ’ GReaT Sport AHEAD.—The horses ‘which are to be entered for the racing that ‘comes off at the Glenbrook Park have commenced ‘coming up and those who Wish to see fine stock should take a ride to the track. ‘Some of the best horses in the State are alTeady upon the ground, apd more good stock is coming. Yesterday, “Blue Dale,” “Jenny Hall,” “Finnegan” and “Sweetwater,” all “crack” horses, were brought tu. the Park. More fine stock will be brought up before the races commence. The sport will begin on the 13th inet. Batu aT Bean VaLLey.—A Grand Ball . will be given at the Bear Valley House on the 22d day of. June. One of the largest dancing hails in the cownty has been erected, splendid music has been secured and the ball will be a grand affair. Elijah Tompkins, who is known to all of our citizens, is the owner of the house, and he gives the ball, which is sufficient guarantee that it will be a splendid one. Those who desire pleasant excursion anda gala time should be at Bear Valley on the 22d.
