MatTERns— We publish below an ettract from a letter of L. B. Ayer Eeq., Register of the Marysville Land Office, to Hon. A. A. Sargent, relating to the recent map filed, covering French Corral, Birchville, etc. Mr. 8S. informs us that this view of the matte: is enrest satisfied that there is no danger of . their losing their rights. Mr. Ayer takes great pains to circulate extensively the news of the filing of new maps, by handbills end otherwise, and is an upright and competent officer. The following is the portion of the letter re-_ lating to the lands in question : “In the matter of the Survey of township 17, N. R. 7 E. the map here on file shows that portion East of the North Fork of Yuba River to be unsurveyed, and of course while in that condition no persom can procure or = any title, nor can any corpora acquire any righte thereto. In all probability that portion of the township will remain unsurveyed tor a number of years ‘hold the land.” — New ScHoot Districrs.—The Board of Supervisors yesterday organized the Lake City District, bounded as foi~ lows: Commencing on Humbug creek at the mouth of Virgin Ravine, thence to Bonney’s ranch, and the old Saw Mill ranch, thence to the Kennebec House, thence to Humbug creek and up said creek to the place of begining, ‘The Truckee School District including all that portion of Meadow Lake township lying east of a line starting on the boundary line of Placer county just west of Jones’ Station and continuing due north to Sierra county, thence east slong the Nevada and Sierra county line to the eastern boundary of the. State, thence south along the ‘State ‘county line to the sank of beginning. The between Sweetland and fgg oer A changed so as to include the families of John H. C,H. Northup, pastor of the Church. The tickets of admission are only fifty cents. The Jadies will have stiawberries and cream, Jemonade, ice cream, cake, pastry, and in fact everything the heart can wish for. There will also be vocal and instrumental music, and Professor Rutan, the blind musician, will enliven the occasion by singing and playing. Being . °°: leap year, the ladies will not forget the . co» advantage given them, and will no doubt do their prettiest in Gulteieal the bashful swains and crusty old bachelors. Let the Theatre be crowded tonight. DrowNeED.— Robert, son of Robert G. McCutchan, was drowned at Canada . Hill yeaterday afternoon. The little one was absent a half hour, when Wm, Sigler weat out to look for him and found his body in a small reservoir near the house.
