City Assessor Long has about completed his official duties for this year, and will transfer the assessment book to the City Trustees the latter part of this week. The value of proper‘ty owned in this city, as assessed by him, is as follows: Value of city:and town lots, $81,105; value of improve‘ments on same, $299,480. Value of improvements on real estate as-. sessed to persons other.than owners of the same, $709. Value of personal property, $232,715. Amount of money, $18,950. Total vabne of ‘all property; 2632,950. The Board of . Equalization have been in session since the first Monday in this month . . -and adjourned Saturday night after having “‘raised” the above total by about $7,000. The most valuable piece of improved real estate in the city is assessed at $10,000. The largest amount of money held by any person or company is $16,900. The largest amount of personal preperty -owned by one citizen foots up to $13,400; the second largest’ being $13,325. Last year the total amount. of assessments was $632,491, after the Board of Equalization had reviewed it, making a difference of about $7,000 in favor of this year. During Friday night a burglar or burglars effected an entrance to the dry goods store of Chas, Nathan & Co., at Grass Valley, by digging a hole through the brick wall of the rear part of the store alongside of the iron door.
