Co’s coaches went over the Clipper Gup
road yesterday fur the first time. They did
not atrive’auy earlier than. usual, but the
stock was only transferred the day before
to the new route and were run down. The
drivers had never gone over the road-betore +
and could not be expected to make time.—
The stations, watering places and accominodations on the road will be properly regulated in a day or two and then we may expect the stages in befure noon. The sew
road is said to be in excellent condition.
THE daily expenses of Government have
been reduced nearly one million dollars per
day,since the surrendar of Lee, as has been
_ estimated at the Treasury Department.
