VALUABLE Property DesTROYED AT
. EureKa.—On Friday afternoon the Jim
' Crack mill, located on the claims of and
owned by the Erie Mining Co., near
Gtaniteville, was totally. destroyed by
s tire. The fire broke out about 4 o’clock
P. M., and quickly enveloped the buildings in the vicinity. ‘The ten stamp
mill, hoisting works, boarding house
and other buildings were entirely de-~
stroyed, involving the loss of $25,000.
The property was partially covered by
insurance.

RUNNING.—Ed. Dean informs us that
though he is not a candidate for office,
he is running a tunnel from which he
expects to make a fortune. The Loyal
Company, for which he is acting, propose to ran a tunuel 950 feet to tap a
gravel channel in the west.side of Cement Hill ridge, and in that distance
they propose to reach a point 30 feet
* below the bed rock of the chuinel, giving sufficient fall to work it to advantage.
New Dusrrict.—O. E. Green, tormerly of this city, writes to Carley from
Elko, stating that the Cope mining district, about 30 miles north of that place,
was receiving considerable attention,
and that 200 men had started for the
new discovery. He says the rock re
sembiesPoerman’s of Idahv, and con-~
tains both gold-and silver, some~ of it
assaying $5,000 per ton. He advises
people not to rnn after the new discov-~
ery as it may prove a bilk.
