Since that time he has
been a resident of the county, and
has been engaged-in-the tumber business, and in manufacturing. Hehas
served several times as city Trustee
and several years as School Trustee.
He has always taken an active in-.
terest in the cause of Education, and
took a very lively interest in the
building of the new School house.
The deceased was a most affectionate
father and was devotedly attached to
his family. No labor was too hard or
sacrifice too great iftheir welfare
could be advanced. They have sustained a great and irreparable loss
and the county has lost-agood citi=
zen. In their great bereavement
they have the sympathy of the entire
community. The funeral will take
place frdm the Méthodist Church, on
Saturday afternoon, at, 2 o’clock.
_ Mining Items at Relief Hill.
The Eagle gravel claims, recently
purchased by Mr. Zellerback; was a
te purchase. In five days
run these ‘claims paid their new
owner, $4,800, while the expense of
running, labor, water money, ete.,
only{amounted to $151 30a day. The
claims have a frontage of 500 feet,
andrun back to the centre of the
ridge. ;
The Spicer mining claims are 300
feet front, and join the Eagle claims
on the south. Their last clean up
yielded the handsome sum of $4,000.

a number as yet untouched.
The Oriental Co. cleaned up about
$3,000 the other day after about a

There is another Company, known
as the Blue Bank, which is paying
welland has paid large dividends.
The owners are now running.a
tunnel into these claims. They commenced about a year ago, and will
finish it in about two months. The
tunnel will be 600 feet long when
-completed.
MOORE’S FLAT.
There are three companies washing
at Moore’s Flat, viz The Mlinois,
Eagle and Woe Ting.
The Eagle Co. cleaned up about
$4,400 in a short ran. This is a
good paying mine. 3
The Illinois Co., who are ouly
stripping, took out $5,000 in a very
short time, while the expenses were
but small. This Company expects
to clean up over $15;000, estimating

Causeless Depression.
This expression is’ often used, but it is
manifestly absurd. Gloom and melancholy
are not spontaneous. They are unnatural
mental conditions and usually have corresponding causes. If there is no apparent
physical disease, In nine cases out of: ten
the stomach,'the liver. and the bowels are
responsible for the cloud which rests upon
thé brain. ‘In all such cases immediate and:
permanent relief may be obtained by the
use of Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters. If the
digestive organs are weak an invigorant is
necessary; if the liver is’ disordered analterative is required; if the bowels-afe constipated or irregular a gentle aperient is required. In that famous végetable remédy
these three medicinal properties are commingled with eral othersof a scarcely
less important character, and hence it speedily curés every species of hypochondria
arising from material causes, by removing
the causes themselves. ———
In the Summer, when disorders of the
stomach and bowels, biliouscomplaintsand
all diseases which affect the assimulating
and secretive organs are especially prevaable tonic, alterative and corrective in every dwelling, and within the reach of all
who travel by land or water, cannot be over
estimated. As it is astaple article through.
