VY ARE,) SIONS, t of rranted rd, that r no sale, es’ down. x, We Slaice wantity a. have 2° LOCAL AFFAIRS,.., EXPertmekTixe oN SULPHURETS.— Recently a most valuable discovery, caleulated to greatly’ ‘Hheresse. the value of the Blue Cement cluime of Little Yurk’ township, bins beet madd. A gentleman from San Francisco visited these mines and mills. " He examined the. oulphuteté” “and asserted that they would pay well for'working. Ex. © periments were made and it was found they paid well. Tan number of the mills sulpburets are now. saved, and offers from fifty to-ohe hundred dollars per day have been made for them. It is thought that enough ‘gold can be ‘dbtaitied ‘from this source to pay for the working of the mines and mills, thus making what are now the gross proceeds of mings, clear: gain to the owners. The miners of Little York have never troubled themseives about sulpburets, * and during the last year more than ‘a hundred thousand dollars frive.been washed into the ravines. This one discovery 1s equal to the opening of 3 dozen new mines, if the sulphurets ure of one-half the value claimed for them. Euxueh day we have some new development, and after.men imagine they have obtained all the gold frown their mine, they suddenly find that they have thrown away large portions in the refuse, In many places ia thie eounty rock has been worked over two.or three.timee with fair profits. The result.of these experiments in Little York is calculated togive anew impetys to mining, atid claims which would. not pay before, will be worked aguin with the sulphurets taken from them, at a very good profit. Neece & West CLaIm.—Neece & _ West, at You Bet, have the imost extensive . “MINERS, ENGINEE RS, ete. . claim yet opened upon the Blue Lead.— They struck the cliaone! some wonthe ago, and are now working it out ima larze chamber. For the support of the walls, heavy trees are used some fifteen or eighteen fect. long. Since Just February thiscumpony has worked out a chamber abvut forty feet wide and seventy feet long. From this they have taken about sixty thousand dollars io gold. Their mill i¢ kept constantly iv Ope~ ratien and euch. weck they have large returns. The extent of the pay dirt is uulimited. New Mareriac.—In the mill of Cozzeus & Garber, near You Bet, a new mateTial ig Used us @ substitute fur briék in en: easing boilers. 1t1s 2 coment or chalk formation, which is fuund ia great abundence at Chalk Bluff. It is cut out iu blucks about eight by twelve inches. It is easily worked _ when'taken out, but when subjected to the action.of heut beeomes hardened. It does net crack as bricks do, is nut so liable te be displaced, and is ‘in every way superior as masonry fur builers. At Chalk Bluff there is enough of this material in ‘sight to encase all the boilers on the cvast. Tue . sPeMNpyLvasia. —The Péunsy lvagia Mining Company are making rapid progress in géttig up their new hoisting works. They .have a fine twenty-four hotve-power eugine upon the ground, and expected the boilér to arrive yedterday.— The bujlding 1 Slrédy camp lated, and it is expected the machinery will be ready to) start in ten days. Their new incline is dowo.one bundred and ten foet below the . surface. Work was suspended at this depth when the new works were” tothmenced.— They will have -to'run between forty and fifty feut further'te ‘texch the jwad. The’ company will op out rock in irons or four*weéeks. / Minine InCouPoraTion.—The certificate. ofiincorperution of the> Veritas Gold and Silver’ Mining Company ‘of Meadow Lake District, Nevada county, hae been filed in the Cour raw of Sen Francisco.
