A Partiat CLEAN Ur,—The California
mill. on Saturday Jast, wade a partial clean
from the Knickerbocker ledge, which re"
__ sulted in obtaiting’$159.51, ora little over
$26 50 per ten——The assayed value of the
of the amalgam in the batteries was touched,
and it is estimated that when a thorough
test and clean up is made, the present
crushing will reach near $50 per ton. The
mill has been stopped, temporarily, daring
the last three er fuur days, pending some .
slight alteration in the amalgamating process, but will resume operations shortly, as
we learn the necessary material for the
purpose mentioned, and u more successful
working of the character of rock desired to
be crashed, b&8 arrived on the ground.
THe Star Company.—The Star Quartz
Mining Company. have struck an excellent
ledge six miles east of Eureka. The quartz.
is exceedingly.gved, sme pieces showing
free gold. The Company are getting their
mill ready to start, and will in a short time
be able to have acrushing trom their new
ledge. This company was organized for
}€ospecting about two years ayo, on the
ledges between Washington and Eureka:
A New Discoveny.—A tew days since a
ot Eureka, -The ledge is twenty feet wide,
and the prospeets fromthe croppings are
equal to those of Meadow Lake quartz.—
Heretofore all the ledges opened in this
section of the county, have been found east
ofthe town. Nearly every day n diseoveries are being made in quartz about Eureka, and it is-destined to become ove of the
most presperous mining localities in the
county. ’
RESUMED.—The strike ot the Banner
mine isatan end. The hands went te work,
for $3 per day, as soon as they found tlie
owners were determined not to pay more.
The wages for winers in this vicinity range
from two and @ balf to three and a half,
according to the character of the work and
the nature of the ground to be worked.—.
At this time there is a scarcity of laborers. . $02 Montgomery St. XN, E. Cor. Pine 8t. .
A number of good. minerg would find no
difficulty in obtaining constant emplvy ment
at fair wages.
Curran & BuckMAN.—Curran & Bucking extremely well. Yesterday, after a run of
five days, they took out $3,500. They have
a large body of cement, aod their millis
kept constantly at work.
SULPHURETS"—Neece & West have been
offered twenty dollurs*per ton for the cemeut sulphurets from their.mill at You Bet.
This is equal to about eighty. dollars for
each day's run. a
SULPHURETS SoLD.—We learn that ‘the
“sulphurets from Williams’ cement mills at
Red Dog, have been sold upon the ground
at fifty dollars per day, for each’mill. . The
purchasers think they are sufficieatly rich to . pay 8 fine profit at those rates.
New DisTrict.—We understand that
some very rich creppin,s of quartz .bave
been found op Red Hill, near Sailor Flat,
“and that a company has been organized to
Prospect them, In that. vicinity no quartz
_ Wining has yét been dune, and the discovery
Tecently made is calculated to attract the
attention of prospectors.
BALLOON ASCENSIONS.—The renowned
, Buisiey family will visit the eouuty shortly.
We underéiand ‘that Justin Buisley will
make two ascensions from Gleabrouk Park,
on the 19th aud 20th of June.c7_.
ReorGanization.—The Nevada Light
Gaard will meet this ever.ing, at the Armory,
ization under the new law. . There will also
be'a short p»rade. Every member is exPected tu be on hand.
For Wasninerox.—The benefit ball of
the Washington ‘Brass Band came off ‘at
Washington huet night. Quite a large dele. . '
