' Man Drow ned ‘at Blocimfield. a
On, Sanday last, Thomas Jackson
was drowned at North Bloomfield,
while bathing in the reservor of: the
North Bloomfield Gravel Mining Co,
He went with others to the reservoir,
aud after the party had got through
bathing, he remained in, saying he
was going to swim to a certain log.
He started off and some of the party
noticed he had disappeared. The
man never came to the snrface again,
and the water had to-be drawn off
from the reservoir before the body
could be recovered. . Jackson resided
in Grass Valley, and was employed
in the store of Roberts at Malakoff.
About a year.or so ago deceased had.
his arm shot off while hunting. His
; jody was yesterday conveyed to
Grass Valley for burial.
Angora Goats. J
Yesterday morning a band of about
ove thousand g:aded and thoroughbred Angora goats passed through
this city on the way to the ridge between the Sonth and Middle Yuba
rivers, for grazing. Among thé’ lot
are thirty thoroughbred bucks ard
twenty-four does, imported by Sheri-.
dan & Thomas, of Auburn, Placer
county, last season, who are owners of
the. flock. The raising of Angora
goats has been thoroughly tested in
this county by Mr. Stiles, who has
now a largeflock grazing beyond
the Banner mine. A very large
number of kids of high grade are
among the flock, and they thrive excelleutly. No country is better adapted te raising these animals than the.
mountains of this State; and it is
bound soon to becenie a very prolitable business,

: , Summer Nensown
The summer sunshine that clothés the
earth with luxuriant vegetation, evaporates
a vast amount of crude, iuhciennine
pe sein from its surface, which, mingling
with the air in the form of mephitic gases,
produces a variety of febrile and other diseases. The body-being debilitated by the
warmth of the season, and.the pores being
wide open, gaping as it were for seeds of
sickness, any infectious principle that may
exist in the atmosphere, ‘s readily received
into the system, when it bears baneful
fruit in the shape of malarious fever, bil‘iousness, diarrhea, dysentery, colic, . sick.
ness at the, stomach, headache, or nervous
prostration. I. order to'prevent these visitatione, put the system in a condition to
resist all morbid influences. Brace the inner man with Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters,
whether present in the air we breathe, the
water wo drink, oy connected with our mania of life, or the nature of our pursuits,
that science as yet given ‘to the world.
The experience of twenty five years has
taught an observant people, that this un.
exceptional and agreeable tonic and alterative possesses prey entive aud remedial virtnes that are shared by n°“ other’ medicine
of the present age. It has taught them also that while it is infinitely more efficient
taan any.of the poisonous alkaloids prescribed as tonics, it is absolutely and entirely harmless.
