Jonathan Clark was in town yesterday. There will bea splendid time at the Theatre, on Wednesday night. The ladies of the Methdist Church, will give a festival, at which a number of useful and ornamental articles will be offered for sale, refreshments furnished ete. During the evening there will be music, tableaux, songs etc. Every one whe desires to spend a pleasant evening, should attend the entertainment t6-morrow night. ' Man Drow ned ‘at Blocimfield. a On, Sanday last, Thomas Jackson was drowned at North Bloomfield, while bathing in the reservor of: the North Bloomfield Gravel Mining Co, He went with others to the reservoir, aud after the party had got through bathing, he remained in, saying he was going to swim to a certain log. He started off and some of the party noticed he had disappeared. The man never came to the snrface again, and the water had to-be drawn off from the reservoir before the body could be recovered. . Jackson resided in Grass Valley, and was employed in the store of Roberts at Malakoff. About a year.or so ago deceased had. his arm shot off while hunting. His ; jody was yesterday conveyed to Grass Valley for burial. Angora Goats. J Yesterday morning a band of about ove thousand g:aded and thoroughbred Angora goats passed through this city on the way to the ridge between the Sonth and Middle Yuba rivers, for grazing. Among thé’ lot are thirty thoroughbred bucks ard twenty-four does, imported by Sheri-. dan & Thomas, of Auburn, Placer county, last season, who are owners of the. flock. The raising of Angora goats has been thoroughly tested in this county by Mr. Stiles, who has now a largeflock grazing beyond the Banner mine. A very large number of kids of high grade are among the flock, and they thrive excelleutly.
