A Sieavy Mining Sut.
The Merrifield Mining Company
of this district has begun suit in the
Superior Court against the Provi“dence Mining” Company; whose-propty adjoins the former's claim on the

also to procure a temporary injune‘the arrival of Messrs. W elch aa

severabexpected spectators had not

the visitors came. into the’ building .
he met them at thé outer door, and
carefully watched all their movements till they were seated. An unprejudiced observer would at once
have divined from tis actions that
he was afraid lest some plan be carried ont to ‘‘catch” him if possible.
Finally he entered the p irlors, and
placing himself in a position to command ‘2 view. of the outer entrance

Peeping Tom Comnalttec.
The Nevada TRANSCRIPT seeins
slightly riled at var ridicule of the
idea of appointing a committee
of eitizens to watch and find out
‘what other citizens visit certain disreputable places. We stippose the
¢ aimivns will be appointed, and as
the dut, of that body is of ‘a _very
dignified nature, we should perhaps,
give a more tony appellation to that
outtit and call them Peeping Thomasses. But, after all, who is -going
to watch that committeo?—Union.
The Uaion is mistaken, Only
regular detectives will be employed.
Were it otherwise, our citizens
would certainly ofer the Union min
the position, His well-known qaalifications for the job would place’ him
ahead of all competitors.
