County Clerk Carr has. sued a marriage license to S$. M. Morrison, a sed 77 years, and Charity Stilwell, aged 59 years, both of whom residein this city. ae E The Yuba Quartz Mining Company, operating in Washington tawoship, has declared a dividend (No. 3), of one dollar per share, payable immediately. Ep aeres Mr. Collier, agent of the. Bric-a— Brac Dramatic Company, is in town. The troupe will appear here Thurs~ “day evening, in the great émotion-~ al drama entitled, ‘‘Lost in London.” A couple of wood teams standing on Broad street teok fright Saturday evening as the procession of Smartsville miners entered the city, and scooted up Boulder street. Both wages were damaged, one being badty-broken. The Appeal extends a cordial invitation to the hydraulie miners to participate in the Fourth of July celebration to be held in Marysville this year, Well, there will be several thousand of them who won’t have —anything else to do, but then it is a a long walk to~take in this: warm weather, 5 Walter Price, the spiritualistic humbug who gulled the people of this city most successfully, but was afterwards exposed in his tricks by -Naval-Olficer-Watson,-at—that time editor of the~Truckee*Republican, and_others, is perpetrating his sleight-of-hand on the guileless residents of San Francisco. _— ro Where He Stands. It was reported here Saturday night -that_A. A. Smith and John Knotwell of North Bloomfield had Tfipsed to sign the articles of agreeunt in regard to withdrawing al? trade from Marysville and vicinity, -_but-that-every other—individual in town had done so. We have been requested by Mr. Smith to set him right before the people by saying that he not only signed the paper at the first opportunity, but also gives the movementhis—hearty support. Mr, Smith is head of. the Caucasian Organization on the coast. As to Mr, Knotwell, who was formerly a Supervisor of this county, we are as: sured that he announces his determination to buy goods-where he pleases." Of course he has a perfect right to take such a stand, but it hardly seems wise in him to hold out thus against public sentiment. Superior Court. The following business was transacted in the Superior Court yesterday, Judge John Caldwell presiding: The People va. James Reed. Set for trial July Ist. The People ve. Ah Sam. On trial. W. W. Cross, administrator, vs. G. W. Smith. Plaintiffs demurrer to amended anSwer sustained, and Plaintiff given leave toamend. The People vs. T. C, Pockman.— . Time for trial continued from June 24th te June 30th: J. C, Broderick vs. His Cred:tors. Set for July 11th. J. H. Wentworth vs. Geo. Chappell, Set for July 12th. A Wrestler’s Leg Broken Sunday afternoon while Jimmy Rodda and John ‘Edwin Hoskins (better known as ‘The Infant’’) were wrestling, the latter was thrown in such a manner as to have his. right leg broken in three places below the knee, one of the fractures being compound, Dr. Valantine is attending , case, He says it will be some tle again, ~ 8 A SERIOUS ERROR. The Supreme Court Did Not Stay the Iajvaciion. Late Saturday word’was received ‘here that the report of the Supreme Court having stayed the injunction . on the hydraulic mines was not reliable, and that the clause in the recorded order of the Court'which read to the efect that that the injuuction should be inoperative, was ; interpolated by some person without due an, thority. It appears that on that morning the Court had made the following order: : Whereas in entering the order in this cause on the 17th ‘day of June, 1881, direeting an alternative writ of . prohibition to issue, and staying all further proceedings until the further order Of this Court, there was erron. eously included an. order staying the enforcenent, of the injuncticn heretofore issued in this cause by the Superior Court, and whereas no such-order-as-the last mentioned was made by this Court, now therefore it is ordered that ‘all that portion of said order entered herein on said 17th day of June, staying the enforee~ ment of sail injunction, be andthe same hereby is vacated and annulled.” 8 Considerable * controversy has , arisen as to the manner in which the sentence staying the injunction got into the minutes, and there is a strong disposition on the part of the grangersto charge that it: was a forgery made in the interests of the defendants, What the latter would gain by éueh an act we fail to see. It wow'd rather damage their interests than otherwise. . We believe that an investigation will show it to sitnply be an error made by the acting‘Clerk of the Court. The miners applied -for an alternative writ of prohibition on Judge Keyser to be issued, and for the injunction to be stayed. The writ was granted, the argument being set for July 25th, No action was taken as to the injunction, .but the Clerk evidently failed to remember the laiter fact. Ex-Supreme Judge Niles of this city thinks that the above theory is much more reasonable-than the suv~ position that the error was an intentional one. ened The French Corral Jubilee. . A letter written last Friday by “N. T.” of French Corral, giving an interesting account of the manner in [which the people’ there celebrated tion, was not received-at-this—office till yesterday. Our correspondent writes that a cannon was drawn up and dowa the ridge,.and fired at va— rious points, the population turning out en masse and joining in the jubilee. After the shooting was over, andthe cannon had been returned to French Corral, three _ lusty cheers were given forthe Milton’ Mining Company and three more for the meeting at Nevada City. More Injunctions. Tt was reported here yesterday that injunctions issued in the case of Keyes vs, the L:ttle York Mining Company et als were being served en the hydraulic mines dumping into Bear River and its tributaries.
