Dee LiteNst.—An Ordinance hes been
passed sad gone info effect, taxing alldope
within the city of Nevada, the sum of: fou
dollars per head. In times past but little .
Secouragemevt has been offered the City
: Marghal to enforce the Ordinance to the letter, he being only allowed 5 per cent. of
the receipts. Now, the Board of Trustees
have incréased the Marehal’s fees to 50 per
cent., and he has already commenced an attack upon dogs around the tewn. Those
persons who are owners of dogs wilt do well
to pay the tax immediately if they wish the
fives of their canines preserved.
MISTAKE.—JIn our article yesterday on
mining at Omega, we were considerably out
of the way. We understand from a gentle.
man fesiding near that place that there are
» two big companies at Work at Omega who
are supplied with water from the big ditch.
Joun R. Rivce.—We “forget to notice
that this gentieman had become conuected
with the Grass Valley National. The Nae

soon be made—in the paper—of such &
character as will prove satisfactory to its
friends and patrons. What's ia the wind?

MUCH uneasiness is felt for the steams
ship Golden Age, now overdue four days.—
It is feared the Chompion, from NeW York,
, has been captured by a pirate on the Atlantice side.
MARSHAL’S SALARY.—As per Ordinance
in anvther column, the Marehal’s salary hes
been fixed as fullows : $75 per month, to be
paid out of the city treasury; $6 for all arrests, when-collected: 50 per eent. of all
monies collected on account of Dog Licen868; 25 per cent. on Poll Taxes; 15 per
