A Substantial Response.
E. M. Sunderland, special agent of
the Miners Association, has met with
splendid success in canvassing this
city for funds with which to pay for
the defense of the miners in the slick—
ens suits, Contributions have been
made by all classes of citizens and
business firms, The quartz miners
are as a rule the largest givers. ‘The
most of them have put their names
down for from $50 to $100 each, the
Providence Company subscribing
#300. The owners of quartz proper‘ties know full well that if the fouling
of streams by hydraulic mining is declared unlawful the same rules will
apply to themselves.
