nual been ' due of 10 8 will 1, and servdays lonth scary lance doth, rythiog tly oD hecity. USS, ee y oceule for SS D wil d i Lpply to BAL. = 4 é + 4 Che Daily Transeryzt, NEVADA CITY, CALIFORNIA. ——— LOCAL INTELLIGENCE. SNow Pornt—The prospect at this old mining camp is decidedly firstarate_] “The Water Company has a mine at __this_place, nnder the supesintendence of . Mr.-Coafs; and itis regarded as one—of ~the-best—claims~on “that—ridge-——The — company has-been stripping all Sums ——"jner and running from 600 to 800 inches = of water. : McCarrow & Co. are drifting in the: old Golzonda claims, and at. their last clean up they took out some gold which very'much resembles that found on the opposite ridge, at Minnesota, in Sierra eounty. These claims were abandoned and no work has been done on them for many years, until this season; and the chances are that McCarrow & Co. will: make a good thing out of them. . Cawger & Co. are running a drifting tunnel in-their claims, and have excels lent indications. . Price and his men are still at work at this place, as they have been for many years, and it is thought, trom all--appearances, that he is making money, MINING AT MooReE’s FLat.—The Eagle Company have commenced sluic ing through their new tunnel, which . has just been completed, and are running for the rich channel worked by Hickey several years ago, and have great expectations of striking it. a The Illinois Co’s claims and Hickey’s have been worked steadily and are pays ing well. oe ee The old St. Lawrence-is owned and worked by Chinamen.— Atwater & Knotwell have got their pipe down and ready to run water to their claims, and in a day or two they ~~ will be pitching in with all their might. These claims are regarded as A.1 but not having sufficient fall they can not be-worked to advantage. . ° « Woo Lsex's FLat.—From those who have visited this place lately we learn that the town never looked as prosperous ag at the present time. By people, generally, it was believed that the town had “pegged out” entirely. The XIX Company, owned by Marks & Co., are doing splendidly, and give employment to a good many men. Last week they cleaned up $11,000, and the prospect is, from the looks of the ground, that their next clean up will be considerably larger. Shultz & Stober have a good mine, are working it with energy, and it is paying them well. Reed & Mills are working the Blue Bank claims. They bave been drifting for years, and everybody knows they . are doing well. : Frre at LAKE City.—At 11 o'clock on Wednesday night, the building used as a school bouse at Lake city, opposite Payne’s hotel, ‘was discovered in flames, and the fire rapidly spread to the blacksmith shop of W.°D. Black adjoining. Both buildings were entirely consumed. The fire is supposed to have been the work of an incendiary. PLEASE RETURN 1T.—About three months ago, some person borrowed 150 teet of inch rope from the Engine House { of Pennsylvania No, 2. The borrower will pleage retorn it, or any one knowing of its whereabouts will confer a favor by leaving word at Monro’s butcher shop. : oN . Suppex Deatu.
