The incline of-the-mine is about two hundred and fifty feet deep and John Jacks,Henry Warnington and another man were at work within about used in carrying down timbers,was sent from the-platform and went crashing: down the incline at lightning speed. — Before the men had time to escape it was upon them. Jacks and Warnington. were both caught. The former was knocked a distance of six feet into the water cistetn at the bottom of the in¢eline. He was also considerably bruised, _Warnington, who received a severe gash in the head,notwithstanding . his own suffering, pulled Jacks out. of where he lay helpless,in imminent danger of drowning. The other man escaped without injury. Dr. Bates was sent for and dressed the wounds and set the limbs of the injured men. MILITARY ORDERS.—General Howell has ordered the Fourth Brigade,National Guard, to parade on the Fourth of duly, by battallion or company as is most convenient. “In*pursuance of the above order, we understand that Colonel Knowlton, commanding the Fifth Infantry Regiment, will order the Grass Valley Union Guard, Howell Zouaves and Nevada Light Guard to Grass Valley for battalion drill, and other companies to such places as may be designated by their commanding éfficers, as provided by the State Militia Law. CoMPANY DRiILL.—The Nevada Light Guard is ordered out for company drill on Thursday and Saturday nights of this week. Members should be on hand. All persons having caps belonging to the company’ are’ requested to return them to the armory forthwith. New Untrorms.—The Washington Band has procured a handsome uniform eonsisting of the regulation caps, fine blue cloth coats and pants. This excellent band will wear their new‘toggery” on the Fourth, and as they are a handsome set of fellows they will present a fine appearance. CaBIn BuRNED.—The cabin of Chris. Mullen, occupied by Mullen and Truck, Hill, was destroyed by fire on last Sunday evening. ‘The..occupants were away from home when the cabin took fire, and all their clothing, furniture, a large stock of provisions, and a valuable gold watch were destroyed. The loss is estimated at between five and six New SraGre ARRANGEMENT.—Gregory & Englieh are now running stages to Eureka daily.
