NEV ADA DAILY TRANSCRIPT.
ea!
Reap the advertisements in to-.
day’s TrRanscrirt. The public are
now able to buy goods’ as cheap in
this city aa in San Francisco. Such a
competition as the dealers are waging has never before been. seen in the
mountains. Scores of people are
coming here daily from the surrounding country to take advantage
of the slaughter in prices that our
enterprising merchants are making.
It is a good time now to lay in a few
yeara’ suppliea, and Nevada City is
the best place to come to for that
purpose,
Waite Sheriff Carter was at San
Francisco after Patrick Tierney, he
met Sheriff Hopping of Shasta, who
tips the beam at 370 pounds. He
is said to be the biggest county officer in the State. The mammoth
policeman who does duty at the

be held in this city about the middle of July for the purpose of choosing delegates to the convention to be
held in Sacramento on the 23d proximo, and also to elect a new County
Central Committee. ~The’ convention to nominate county officers will

Wuy does not the proprietor of
Ammen’s Cough Syrup publish testimoniais from those who have been
cured or relieved by his medicine ?
The answer is, the greater the humbug the more testimonials they publish. -Ammen’s Cough Syrup is no
humbug, and to prove that and let it
stand on its own merits, a 15-cent
sample bottle is prepared, which is
certainly more convincing than a testimonial from a stranger. Large
bottles, $1.00. Ask your druggist

A Friend to Our Own State.
Once a week the San Francisco
Evening Post republishes the mining
news given by the interior papers of
‘the State, It is the first time any of!
the metropolitan papers have made a
systematic and satisfactory move-in
that direction. Most of them have
“mining departments,” but the information they. print is principally
about most any place on earth but
California, The good work being
