ss > . Be ae GSransrript. 9, 1860. tue SARIS BELEN. H. G. Rollins, H. L. Hatch. = For Sheriff, «.-i —_ For Assessor, R. B. Gentry. E. F. Bean. For Collector: _ For Surveyor, Chas. Barker. ‘' H.S. Bradley. — For Clerk, For Coroner, For Recorder, , . Public Administrator, J. C, Garber. W. W. Cozzens, “Por District Attorney, Supt. of Schools, John Caldwell. M. 8. Deal. ‘ For Treasurer, For Supervisor, E. F. Spence. Jonathan Clark. % Tue Botrers AGain.—We yesterday gave extracts from loyal papers of. other parts of the State, showing that the attempt of Low's friends in this county to break up. the Union party is denounced in the:most bitter terms. The Flag, speaking of Low says: ‘In Nevada county, notwithstanding all this lavishment of corruption money, he was fairly out-maneuvered and beaten, he proceeded to additional infamy and rascality, of procuring a bolt from the regular nominations and the announcement of an opposition Convention! With this foul reputation he comes to this city.” The Flag also says that the Low men of San Francisco, in case they are beaten in the primaries, propose te inaugurate the same moyement they did in this county. It now remains to be seen whether the Union men of Nevada county will permit a few sore-headed individuals to make thei instruments for the destruc~ tion of the Union party. Can it be that inintelligent men are 86 tied to individuals or moved by lust for office that principle is lost ? The following in reference to the ‘People’s Union Call”—Kent, Sears and two or three others heing thepeople—is from the Marysville Appeal. We would commend the latter portion of it to Union men who} have sanctioned the “bolt” by placing their namesupon the list: The Union men of Nevada who went into Convention agreeing to support, the ticket nominated, and who now bave issued a call for another Convention to make un independent ticket, are digging their political graves They may have n treuted cavalierly by the Convention; but whatever that treatment nay -bave been it cannot justify an en open bolt, which may contribute to the success of the copperheads of that county. By going out of the Union organization they invite copperhead support to vote down true Union men atthe election. They certainly know that they are not strong enough of themselves to elect, and their course tends either to invite the enemies of the country to amite with them,. aud thus defeat the regular Union party, or to induce the copper: heads to make a straight ticket, and defeat . the Union ticket by giving them a plurality vote. We hope to hear that the Union men in the independent movement have joned their purpose. Better back out ofa mean scrape than press it through because commenced. Reasen better controls than prejudice and revenge. Of course evman engaged in this independent movement will be forever out of the pale of the Union party. The party will be sundered and seed planted for. atrife and contention for yeare—and all contribute to potting the rebels into power Good judgment and policy pleads against pressing uny further this suicidal movement for an independent ticket Itisto be hoped that the Convention will be abandoned, or so few give it countenance ~ that it will die still-bern. THe RULING Passion.—The Flag says that when Mr. Cunness stepped ashore from the steamer, meeting a friend, his first words were: “Are you working on the primaries ? Don't be too fast; come and seeme!” It is probable that by this time the Senator has discovered that ‘working the primaries” is an enterprise considered beneath the digni-: ty of his position, and which, if persisted in, will produce that degree of ridicule which would result from “working” the town pump by a Senator of the United States. Paying WELL —The mines at Quuker Hill in this county are paying well. Thy claims of Jacobs & Sargent are yielding large amounts. The result of the last ten days waa $1800. The claims are Very extensive and will pay well for years to ReEAPRD.—The vat etop raised on the Court House lot has been cus. Ttwill make / ~“ _. We guess it won't return for, many days. Low at-rue Bay.—Phe American Flag speskitiy of Low’s chanees says, “Politically Mr Low is dead with the Union Party of this county, as he should be every where else. His. small abilities, large pretensions, pitiful little trickery and notorious corruption have brodght him into contempt‘and distrust with: the majority of Union men. -They have ‘his officiatinfitrence to advance himself tea lous : that his appointment of every notaryand of whatever uther officer has been to thatend, and they also know that he-has not hesitated to directly, apply the corrupting in-. fluence of money for the sume bad purpose It is common talk among politicians, some . of whom have been: thirty years familiar with the minor operations of the Democratic party, that they have never known any individual, maintaining a respectable pesition in society, who was capable-of getting down so utterly prostrate and resorting to such dirty little puddling in the filthier mud-holes. of faction. The same report of him. comes from Yuba county, and also from Nevada, where respectable and credible' Union papers say that his creatures and retainers went about the primary meetings openly with'gold in their hands to buy men like cattle.” : :: The Flag charges that the primaries in San Francisco have been twice postponed by the Low factionists for the purpose of deferring a decision which they know will be against them. That paper cluses the article as follows : ud A large proportion of Union men in this county have come te the/conclusion that Mr Connese has not been authorized to make Senators for the State of California, but rather that his energies should be otherwise occupied in a manner more ; becoming his high office ; and if all the same to him, they prefer to “work” the primar: ineetings themselves, without any absolutely necessary reference to the immense “slate” upon which he and his friend Low may have been drawing Senatorial *‘pot hooks.” They are sick and disgusted with having primary meetings “.worked ” -by a very few individuals, and intend that henceforth they shall be worked.by the people themselves. They are convinced that if they would not have the Union party split into as many fragments as there are blockheaded demagogues to how! for offices, for which they have no respectable apoety the brakes. must _be put down on this little poutering, fiddling and tinkering of overbearing politicians about primary meetings. It defeats the end of these asseinblages, where the will of the people is sought for, and not the permission of office-hulders ; and unig a stop is put to the disgusting annoyanee, the Union party will fail to pieces and exist only in: muitiform local factions. ‘This everlasting’ dickering, haggling, swapping and figuring on the “alate,” is the chef cieetiée which the disorganizers in this city advanced as an excuse for their bolting two years ago, and if Union men would arrest disintegration and ultimate dissolution of the party, they. must resist and put a stop to all such improper interference ia a business in which the ple divere. themselves should have the fullest tion. Pracer County,—The Union County Convention met at Auburn on the 27th and made the following nominations : For Senator, E L Bradley; for Assembly men, John Bosquit, William Sexton a John Yule; fur Sheriff, A W Poole; for County Clerk, 'D W Spear; for Reco er, W B Lyon; for Treasurer, J W Dickerson; for District Attorney, E L Craig; for Superintendent of Public Schools, 8 R Cxse; for Surveyor; R-W-> Raymond; for Public Administrator, John Russell: for Coroner, Thob mas Jamison. The Delegates to the Judicial Convention. are L G Smith, N W Blanchard, PA Sibley, M T Staples, DL Allen, James E Hale, H Polly. A/B Scott, John Yule, E Stone, H L Kilburn, T W Henn and Samuel Dodds. The/nomineésfor the Legislature are all anti-Low. Ycna aGawst ‘Low.—The Appeal says: _. “The County Convestion stands, on the Senatorial question, s¢ far as itis possible to ascertain, thirty-five Low and fifty-three antiLow. In the city Low has from three te six delegates.” THE Unjon's dispatch from San Francisco says itisconceded that Shannon is te be Surveyor of the Port, Noah Brooks Naval Officer, A. J. Bryant Naval Agent. These appointees believe John Conness to be the Saviour of the world. “Castine” well earn ed his position, in writing sickening puffs of Johnny. : THE nominees for Senate and Assembly in Placer county, are all anti-Low men.— The Dutch Flat Enguirer says. that. Low “cast money broadcast throughout the county for the purpose of carrying the election.” Our Washington correspondence will apett. seen that he has been from the first. using all . position in which he would be only ridicu-' ‘} The Wonderfal ‘Won't co 17.—A gentleman writing from Eureka township to a friend in this city, anys the Union men of that section They won't get any support from Union menin that section. aan one AN Ou Nevapan.—E. L. Craig, . for. District Attorney by the Placer Union Conmake a good officer for the county. THe Monawk Leap—The Mohawk claim, located. on Gold Flat, is now yielding splendid tock. .We saw some specimens at the Banking House of Hinds & Tully which were filled with gold. The last rock crushed from this Wad paid‘ well and there is every evidence that the next crushing will far exceed it.
