Nevada Daily Transcript.
ResecTreo.—We understand that one of
-the agents of the Low, Sears & Co. bolters
presented their “People's Union Conventioa” wall to a promineut resident of Bridgewotked hard for the success of their ticket
in the primaries and was expected to go with
tthe bolters, but like an hoavrable sien, ome
who thought more of the great Union party
sed. He said he considered such a tequest
an insult. He had made the fight in the
primaries, was beaten, and intended to stand,
by the regular ticket. There ate hundreds
of the same kind of men ia this coanty, and
the boltere will be rebuked by them.
THe THEATEN.—Ou Luesday night the
new theater was lighted with gas for the
first time. We locked in and found the
large building as bright as noon-day. There
are ainety-six burners'in the building. The
Nevada Quadrille Band met there for rehearsal. The hall is well-adapted to music
and that produced by the band was excellent. The stage andhall-are-constructed }
with:a-view to acoustics, and there isnot
an easier place fur speaking or a place better adapted to music in the State.
THe Batt Tu-Nicut — Let all attend
the Theater Ball to-night. Those who do
not dance will fiud comfortable seats in the
gallery. The company desire to finish the
building up immediately. It is a benefit to
the town’ and every citizen should buy a
ticket on that account. But in addition to
this there will be a good supper and excellent music to-night. We hope to see the
building crowded. Show that you are. inprise. 4
—
THe STREETS.—We observe that the
street planking in some parts of the town is
rapidly going teruin. The nails have broken off or the foundation rotted, and whenever a team passes along the planks are
racked in such a manner as must soon destroy them. A few nailsand a little work
pow will save great expense after awhile:
No SHow ror Democrats.—The soreheads are charging that no man who was
not a Republican stood any chance of a nomination before the Union Convention. The
ticket nominated by the Convention is made
up of men whose antecedents are‘as follows:
Democratic nine, Republican eight. This
charge is made by the sore-headg in the hope
of creating the impression that men former-.
ly Democrats are proscribed by Union men.
The figures above will give the lie to any
such statement.
PAYING.—The winers from all seetions
of the county are bringing in their regular
instalments of “dust.’”’ The mines everywhere are paying well and the new quartz
ledges are greatly increasing the amount ef
treasure. This county is in a most prosperous:condition with g prospect of better days
in the future.
ee
For THe Muuntatns.—A party of gentlemen were to start from here this morning for an excursion of a week to the lakes.
surrounding county presents the freshness of
spring. The excursionists propose also to
visit the new imines and “post some notices”
before they return te this city. We wish
them good luck both in fishing and prosWe. learn that hundreds of nen are leavhe new
and rich digging: in the upper part of thie
county. The fever has hardly got as
here. If one-half is trae that is told of these
mines, which have been traced for miles,
they excel any quartz diggings ever discovered in this State.—_—_—_—_—_—_—_—_———
