The funeral of Alexander Thomson, anneuncéd to take place in this city yesterday morning, was _postponed to this morning in consequence of a serious mistake that occurred on the railroad, Two bodies were shipped from San Francisco, Mr. Thomson for Colfax, and the ether fer Auburn, Mr, Crane, the undertaker, being in charge ef Thomsen, and the other in charge of the express agent. Mr. Crane also had Thomson’s childTen in charge, but he went to the platform at every station except one or two, to see that everything was right. Both boxes were plainly . lo dabeled. At Galt station a telegram was received, ordering the return of the body shipped to Auburn to San Francisce, and by mistake the body of Thomson was put off. The mis take was discovered too late to be xemedied, and the corpse designed fer this city did not arrive until last evening. Yesterday the Masenic Order ‘sent down a secend time te bring the body to this city. -~ > Teacher® Institete. A Kew Version of an old Saying. ~ A-well set table is a joy forever, and "tis a pleasure that won't cost much when oxe can buy china at such remarkably low figures as are offered ‘by Haviland, Hooper & Co. of San Francisco, as seen by their advertisement in to-day’s Transcripr. Only ‘think of it— Pearl white, 175 pieces for $25. French China, 153 pices for $45. Other things are proportionately low. ><-sS Take Notice. Dr. Aborn, from San Francisco, whose remarkable success in curing chronic and obstinate diseases of the eye, ear, head, throat and chest, that have for years resisted the ordinary modes of treatment, is so well known, has made arrangements to vistt Nevada city, Cal. professionally for three weeks, commencing July 3d. Parlors at. the: National Exchange Hotel. Nevada June 26th.—6t. Lavea says to Emma, ‘‘what has 80 improved your complexion lately ?’’ ‘Well, Emma, I will tell you: I have taken nearly two bottles of Dr. Levings’ Sarsaparilla and Rose Willow, and it has removed that yellow mothy appearance from my face and neck, Oh! it weed to be so mortifying to me!"* A 1 @ . LL A telegrani tedeived Yast evening at 6 o'clock announced. that the ‘State Convention met “Festerday. Judge Filkins, of Yuba was chosen temporary Chairman, and M.D. Botuck and Harte wore .<lected temporary Secretaries. Newton Booth Nominated ! Newton Booth was nominated by acclamation, The best of feeling prevails, The Last Chance--Great Rush— ' improve It. It does not really seem possible that such extraordinary inducements can be offered to the people of Nevada county, as are being made at the present time by Banner Brothers, of this city, yet such is the fact, and it behooves all our people, both in this cality as well as im distant parts of the county, to take advantage of the faverable epportunity now presented to them. In San Francisco clothing is sold at a very high figure, as well as in New York, and within the last month, all woelen goods have advanced from 10 to 20 per cent., owing to the failure in the wool clip. Yet in the mountains of California, in the city of Nevada, where heavy freights are te be added, everything in the clothing line is sold at 100 per cent. cheapér than in the above places. It does seem unaccountable, nevertheless it is true, and the cause of itcan be easily explained. The wellknown frm-of Banner Bros., on the corner of Broad and Pine streets, who have the largest and most beautiful stock of goods ever seen in a clothing establishment in the State, are selling eff their stock for the purpose of engaging in business elsewhere, and aré offering their clothing so cheap that it surprises everybody. Among the goods which will be sold at extraordinary bargains, are fine broadcloth dress suits, beaver suits, casslmere suits, linen suits, white du k suits, and every other kind and quality tobe had. They have also a large assortment of hats, of every style and description, shirts, gloves, trunks, valises, boots and shoes.— Their furnishing department for genYemen cannot be excelled anywhere. ‘Banner Brothers are determined to close business in Nevada city, and the very low prices at which they are selling goods, is good evidence that they mean what they say. During the past ten years, this firm have enjoyed the good will of all who have ‘had dealings with them, and their goods and prices have always given the best satisfaction. Merchants in the clothing business at San Juan, Moore's Flat, North Bloomfield, You Bet, and in fact everywhere else in the mountains, by calling on Banner Brothers, will do much better by selecting from their immense stock than by going to San Francisco for supplies. Such opportunities to save . money seldom occur, and the people of Nevada county should not fail to take advantage of the present one. > The Universal Safeguard. It is useless for State Legislatures to pass laws for the preservation of the public health, if the great lew of self-preservation, which depends for its enforcement upon the will of the individual, is suffered to remain a dead letter, There is scarcely an adult member of the cqmmunity, of either sex, in the country, who has not seen the testimony in favor of Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters, furnished over their own signatures by persons of acknowledged eminence in science, literature, art, commerce, and every department of business and professianal life. These witnesses have declared im the most explicit terms that the preperation is a safeguard against epidemics, a sovereign remedy for dyspepsia, a valuable antibilious medicine, a promoter of appetite, a genial and harmless stimulant, a good acclimating medicine, a strengthener of the nerves, a general invigorant, a protection against the deleterious effects of malaria and impure water, and that it imparts a degree of vigor and activity to the vital forces which is not communicated by any other of the tonics and stomachics in use. Under these circumstances the self{-preservative law of nature should teach every rational person who, either by reason of inherent debility or in consequence of exposure to unwholesome infiuences, is in peril of. losing the greatest of all temporal blessings, health, the importance of using the Bitters asadefensive medicine. Dyspeptics who neglect to give it a trial are simply their enemies, It is guaranteed to cure indigestion in all its forms, and the bilious and nervous will find nothing in the whole range of officialand proprietary medicines which will afford them the same relief.
